Dietary, Food and Nutrition Services: CMS CoPs, DNV, and TJC

WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE: CMOs, CNOs, compliance officers, emergency department personnel, joint commission coordinators, medical records staff, quality improvement personnel, risk managers and legal counsel, and anyone else interested in the subject matter

OVERVIEW: This webinar will cover the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) hospital and Critical Access Hospital (CAH) Conditions of Participation (CoPs) requirements for dietary, food, and nutrition services. This area has received increased scrutiny, especially in the area of infection control. The webinar presenter will discuss common deficiencies or citations identified by CMS surveyors following a survey. 

This webinar will also cover the Joint Commission (TJC) provision of care chapter standards related to dietary and the Det Norske Veritas (DNV) Healthcare dietary standards will also be discussed.

Describe that CMS has a section on food and nutrition services in the hospital CoP standards;
Recall CMS safety standards for food nutrition services; and 
Discuss the Joint Commission and DNV standards for food and dietetic services.

CONTINUING EDUCATION: 

Nursing: Up to 2.0 contact hours will be awarded for this offering by the Louisiana Hospital Association for complete attendance and evaluation of the program. The LHA is approved by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing – CE Provider #39.

SUBSTITUTION POLICY: Registrants who are unable to participate in an LHA educational event are permitted and encouraged to have an eligible substitute; however, written notice of the substitution must be emailed to [email protected] at least seven business days in advance of the event. The substitution option is not available if written notification is received by the LHA less than seven business days before the scheduled program.
