WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE: Those individuals who need to study for the National Association Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) certification test for either the Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or the Certified Provider Medical Services Management (CPMSM). Registrants will be required to sign a Registrant Attestation form the day of the event to acknowledge that class recordings and the PowerPoint presentation will not be shared, used, or duplicated without the express written permission of Edge-U-Cate, LLC.
OVERVIEW: CERTIFICATION FOCUSED STUDY PROGRAM: Join us for a very detailed, focused review of the resources you will need to study for the NAMSS certification tests for either the CPCS or the CPMSM. We will review the accreditation and regulatory credentialing standards for The Joint Commission (TJC), National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), Det Norske Veritas (DNV), Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP), Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC), Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS); and Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Healthcare (AAAHC). Additional resources will include information regarding board certification, Maintenance of Certification-Osteopathic Continuous Certification (MOC-OCC), healthcare acronyms, medical terminology, Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA), National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB), and other information as defined by the NAMSS Candidate Handbook. For those studying for the certification exam on Medical Services Management, we will provide a review of information regarding Systems Operation Management and Department Operations Management (i.e., budget, staffing, etc).
Valuable study resources will be provided to help participants succeed in achieving their NAMSS certification(s). For certified or experienced participants, this program will provide a comprehensive refresher course on key accreditation/regulatory information and best practices in the industry.
Join us and be prepared to participate in a detailed overview of the study resources defined in the NAMSS Candidate Handbook. This program will provide an opportunity for detailed review of each of the components in the certification exams and provide the participants with the opportunity to communicate directly with the instructor. As follow-up, you will be provided with an organized outline on how and what to study for your certification exams, as well as sample tests.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:
• Review education among the various accrediting programs and CMS regulations to assure those with limited exposure learn about all standards and practices with applicable principles;
• Understand the “global” concept in applying standards and principles to an exam that addresses multiple environments vs. local prerogatives;
• Define resources for further study; and
• Cultivate professional development for new members to the industry and a refresher for those already serving in the industry.
