Licensure and Survey Updates by LDH Health Standards

WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE: CEOs, directors of nursing, lab directors, medical directors, directors of case management, directors of quality improvement, behavioral health quality directors, risk managers, behavioral health risk managers, hospital attorneys, and any personnel who are involved in a hospital survey conducted by Louisiana Department of Health (LDH)

OVERVIEW: 
This update from the LDH Health Standards Section will assist hospital providers in understanding the role and structure of Health Standards; common hot topic questions from hospitals; why and when surveys are conducted; reporting requirements for hospitals, rural emergency hospitals, nurse staffing agencies, and burn units; common issues identified regarding abuse/neglect issues; and Prospective Payment System (PPS)-excluded hospitals/units. The presenters will review survey packets to assist with any ongoing issues identified by LDH Health Standards. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions regarding these processes and discuss any proactive measures that can be implemented by hospitals. 

 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

·        Recognize the types of surveys administered by LDH Health Standards Section as a state and federal survey agency;

·        Identify common hot-topic questions;

·        Recognize compliance vs. non-compliance with Conditions of Participation;

·        Identify common issues reported resulting from patient abuse or neglect; and

·        Provide an overview of the requirements for rural emergency hospitals, nurse staffing agencies, and burn unit.

CONTINUING EDUCATION: Nursing: Participants will receive, up to 5.5 contact hours will be awarded for this offering by the Louisiana Hospital Association for complete attendance and evaluation of the program. The Louisiana Hospital Association is approved by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing – CE Provider #39. Nursing Facility Administrators: Up to 5.5 hours will be awarded for this offering by the LHA for complete attendance of the program and evaluation. The LHA is approved by the State of Louisiana Board of Examiners of Nursing Facility Administrators – CE Provider #101.  MCLE and Health Law Specialization CLEs: Up to 4.75 hours of credit, including 0.00 hour(s) of ethics, 0.00 hour(s) of professionalism, and 0.00 hour(s) of law office practice have been approved for complete attendance and evaluation of the program.  The LHA is approved for continuing education by the Louisiana State Bar Association. CANCELLATION POLICY: Individuals who cancel more than seven business days prior to a scheduled event will be charged a cancellation fee of $50 per person unless the registration fee is complimentary. SUBSTITUTION POLICY: Registrants who are unable to participate in an LHA educational event are permitted and encouraged to have an eligible substitute; however, written notice of the substitution must be emailed to [email protected] at least seven business days in advance of the event. The substitution option is not available if written notification is received by the LHA less than seven business days before the scheduled program.
